Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Does your current financial situation affect your application in anyway?
ccj's arrears debt collecters do things like that matter to the application process?

  2. Well you won't pass a security clearance if it's needed for a a trade, Sigs/AGC/Postie etc and a few others
  3. There is a limit to the amount of outgoings that you currently have is capped off at to prevent or allow enlistment, due to the amount of wage you will (will not) be recieving during training. I can't recall the amount/ percentage of earnings that it is right now I'm afraid.
It would, after all, be highly irresponsible if the army were to employ you knowing that what you earned didn't cover what you needed to pay out and left you nothing to live on.
For a more final answer, ask in your local careers office. If you can't make it in, then give them a call- they will be happy to help you.
