Joining the army as a medical support officer

Hi, I have applied to join the army as a medical support officer

I have seen online it’s not a very competitive role and just wondering if anyone has any experience with this role?
Are you likely to be based in the uk or abroad?

Probably not competitive as relatively unknown.

The majority of the Army is now UK based.

I don't recall coming across many in the good old days, most none medically qualified officers in AMS were LE in my day.
