IWM does not Offer a Forces Discount

A serving friend of mine has told me that in response to a complaint he made he received the following reply:

Thank you for your mail which has been passed to me for reply.

The person who served you on arrival at HMS Belfast was in error as the
IWM as a group do not offer discounts for armed services personnel,
neither does it discriminate between services. I can only think that
your last visit was on Veterans' Day when we did offer reduced entry. I
have briefed the manager of the shop accordingly and she will pass this
on to staff. I therefore have no hesitation in apologising to you for
any embarrassment you may have felt at the time. I presume you meant by
"Service orientated organisation" that you were referring to our subject
matter, however if you meant our status, it may be helpful to know that
we are a separate charitable organisation rather than an MOD museum.

Yours sincerely

He asked that as many people as possible are informed to spare them any embarrassment when they flash their MoD 90 and ask for a discount.

If you pay GBP21 per year to become a friend of the iwm you get free entry to all their special exhibitions etc and money off in the cafe and the shop - well worth it if you go a couple of times a year
But they will not offer a service discount on HMS Belfast, the IWM did, before museums became 'entrance fee' free.

All national museums are entrance free, The IWM. The Natural History, The Science Museum etc, it is however the point that HMS Belfast does not offer a 'Forces' discount.
