IW and SS Weapon Drills

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Quick questions.

Why when still working, eg on exercise, making safe to get on a heli etc is part of the making safe drill to fire off the action??

Also on the SS rifle when making ready for first time the hammer is forward, so you are making ready with the safety catch off on a weapon with quite a sensitive trigger action.

    Am I missing something?

  2. A make safe is an unload followed by the replenishment of a magazine. There's no ready there, hence you fire off the action.

As for the SS, I'm sure the drills will have been lifted from the Diemarco.

  3. Military training by the looks of it.

  4. To ensure it is safe?

You can't get safer than having the hammer forward. You still have to make ready. Lots of unexpected bangs on the ease springs bit on the range etc.

  5. SS weapon drills? Get Jews to dig their own grave, strip then stand in front of MG & let rip!

    Really??

  7. The SS were very committed mate, you've got to give 'em their dues...

  8. Incase some mong has not bothered his arse to do the make safe correctly, at least when he fires off the action he is not putting a round into the helicopter.

  9. No we are joking, we actually cut around everywhere made ready with the safety catch removed from the weapon, only puffs need the safety catch.

  10. Er, yeah.

  11. It's 'operate the trigger', not 'fire off the action'.

  12. Make safe is a complete unload followed by a load, doesn't have anything to do with replenishing magazines.

  13. In the book it doesn't say '...followed by a load', it's 'refit of a magazine' or words to that effect.

  14. How do you make safe a GPMG in that case?
