Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Got issued a MK6 helmet on cadet course and now we've hit the stage where we have to wear it all the time, I cut the piece of string out as that knot pissed me off in seconds.
Problem is now my head is directly in contact with the top of the inside of the helmet and it itches like fcuk!!
What do you guys recommend to line the inside of the helmet?

  2. The String that comes with it. Nothing else or you'll cook your head. Muppet

  3. PMSL....... Get a knitting needle and rethread it.

Sorry was going to suggest cannestan that always works for me on an itchy head!

    ahh my thank you awfully.

    Taxi.

  5. Why the hell would you get a helmet for cadet courses?

As for the string - surley the helmet now sits over your eyes & ears! :?

  6. I have a big head, and cadet kit doesn't always arrive in the size you really need, the string would be ok but is there anyway to knot it so it doesn't dig into your skull?

  7. I've never had a problem with it. You could just man up?

  8. Reckon they were designed to keep you safe not comfy! :)

  9. Both in one would be ideal though.

  10. Try pushing the small knot under the tabs, if not good 'ol black ' n ' nasty!

What course are you doing requires a helmet?

  11. I can't say for privacy reasons, i'd get seriously bollocked if i did, it's more intense and fieldcraft based than all the others we do, which for Air Cadets is sayin a lot, hence the lack of knowledge in a lot of areas.

  12. oook, good luck with the knot issue!

  13. Oh please! Did ye get it off ebay?
