Italian soldiers floored by 77-year-old Japanese woman

Super Gran has nothing on this one:

Martial arts expert Keiko Wakabayshi, nicknamed the "Samurai Granny", has been hired by the country's military to train recruits in hand-to-hand combat.

Miss Wakabayshi, who stands exactly 5ft tall, looks tiny compared to her charges who are mostly over 6ft.

But the pensioner is a trained master in an array of martial arts disciplines including jujitsu, jojitso, kenjitso, judo, kendo and karate.

Trained in Jujutsu, stick arts, sword arts, judo and karate - she could sort the chavs :D

Waka-bayashi means in english young forest/trees or young wood methinks.

Rule No. 1 of any martial art. The smaller, older and more wizzened the sensei is, the more it is going to hurt. Movement is a very big thing in nearly all martial arts. If anyone can get to their early 70s and still be fit enough to train and teach then they must have something going for them.

I am reminded by a quote from Terry Pratchet's Interesting Times. Goes something like this...

"They are nothing more than a group of old fools!"
"But if they are so foolish how did they get so old?"

I've no doubt butchered it hideously but you get the idea.

The other Terry Pratchett quote is:
'Rule One: "Do not act incautiously when confronting a little bald wrinkly smiling man." '
