Can anyone point me to one of the pepper grinders which they use in Italian restaurants which 'cracks' the peppercorns, rather than turning them into fine powder?

  2. Ask your PSI.
  3. Nisbets do one.
  4. I think Sainsbury's have them in at the moment
  5. msr with nearly 11,000 posts I assume you have heard of Google ?
  6. If you have a TK Maxx near you, msr, they may have what you need. Often they have a range of excellent cookware for bargain prices. Alternatively, use a pestle and mortar for even better results -- the oils of the peppercorns are activated with the 'bruising' when using pestle.
  7. who are you trying to impress? pics if pos.

This is why I love these forums so much :)

  11. John your local store rather than the tinterwebby thingy.

    Happy to help xxx
  12. If there is a WMF shop near you, they do them in sizes from normal right up to polaris missile.

A slightly cheaper alternative is to buy the Jamie Oliver pepper corns in a glass jar that already has the grinder attached. The grinder is quite cheap and cheerful but cracks the pepper really well into quite large chunks, which i really like.
