Italian Restaurant style Pepper grinder

#1
Can anyone point me to one of the pepper grinders which they use in Italian restaurants which 'cracks' the peppercorns, rather than turning them into fine powder?

I think Sainsbury's have them in at the moment

If you have a TK Maxx near you, msr, they may have what you need. Often they have a range of excellent cookware for bargain prices. Alternatively, use a pestle and mortar for even better results -- the oils of the peppercorns are activated with the 'bruising' when using pestle.

Sod paying £48 get a grinder remove the metal keeper nut on the top, countersink the hole and bingo big chunks not fine dust as before.

Another Credit Crunch tip from ARSSE, you know we care!

If there is a WMF shop near you, they do them in sizes from normal right up to polaris missile.

A slightly cheaper alternative is to buy the Jamie Oliver pepper corns in a glass jar that already has the grinder attached. The grinder is quite cheap and cheerful but cracks the pepper really well into quite large chunks, which i really like.
