It could be worse - at least we're not getting another (in real terms) pay cut.

Despite the over arching opinion of certain people on this site, the Military are Public Servants and receive a pension from the public purse and guess what? Are subject to the 1% pay cap along with Doctors, Nurses, Teachers etc Of course this means (according to the Daily Mail) no one deserves a pay rise as everyone in a Ginger Suit is a pen pusher........

I hope you are not suggesting that we shouldn't be using the Daily Mail as our basis for future planning, pay awards or indeed just about anything?

There's no real reason why everyone else in the public service should get this pay cap and not us, is there? We'll just have to grin and bear it like everyone else. I assume those whining about strikers will welcome this news and the pension ******* we're going to get in 2015 without complaint anyway.

The military though are progressing up the annual pay scales, so will receive at least one small rise per year, even during the pay freeze. The MOD CS, on the other hand has a pay freeze in place, and progression up the pay scales is frozen.

Oh how we laughed when George declared that the payrise would be 1% as Govt Departments staff were still progressing up the pay spine...
