Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I have some issued sunglasses (issued in 2008) - you know the ones, with the different lenses: clear, yellow and black.

My q: im going skiing and wonder if the sunglasses (with black lens in) offers enuff UV protection?

I am tight and really would like just to use my issue sunglasses if it is safe on my eyes.

  2. UV protection MTFU.

Jesus you've paid to ski, you can't be that tight.

Stop being lazy Google is your friend "100% UVA/UVB protection"

  3. yep, so i guess thats my question - do the issued sun glasses have 100% UVA/UVB protection?

Im going with army so hopefully personal costs will be kept down. i hope. i am hanging financially....so very much hope so!

  4. If the Armys running it you should not be that much out of pocket compaired to paying for it yourself.

Maybe I should have made the comment clearer the "100% UVA/UVB protection" was taken form the glasses literature after a google on ESS glasses :)

    hope this answers the question

  5. ah. brilliant. thanks m8. so maybe i will come back with eyes after all!
brilliant. thanks. so that is some money saved there for starters!

  6. I used mine for skiing and they were fine - the yellow lenses are great for cloudy days too.
