But he still supports settlement growth and appears to want to retain control over security in the West Bank. Hardly a good deal in my book.

It's actually no deal at all! Benjy the Psycho just wants to point his grubby finger at the Palestinians and accuse them of not co-operating.

Bibi having torched the road map manages to gulp out some acknowledgment of its direction hedged around with a forest of conditions:
"If we get this guarantee for the demilitarization and the necessary security arrangements for Israel, and if the Palestinians recognize Israel as the state of the Jewish people, we will be ready for a real peace arrangement to reach a solution of a demilitarized Palestinian state alongside the Jewish state."

So what has happened?

Israel confirmed previously confirmed position with new pre-conditions and reservations.

What will happen later?

Mr.Obama will pretend that he 'presses' Israel. Israel will continue its line sometimes making empty declarations.

The Palestinians are too weak. The Arabs have own problems. The EU will pretend that it sees 'a progress'. For Russia ME conflict is not a priority.

Our Israeli friends can relax.
