Israel returns to US fighter jet project

The United States has reinstated Israel's participation in the Pentagon's next-generation fighter jet development project, after suspending it over a proposed Israeli arms deal with the Chinese, the Israeli Defence Ministry said.

Israeli Defence Minister Shaul Mofaz and US Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld discussed the matter in Washington on Friday, the ministry said on Sunday.

The decision to bring Israel back into the project was the latest sign that the two countries had mended relations strained by Israel's since-abandoned plan to upgrade drone aircraft sold earlier to China.

The Pentagon regards China as a potential long-term adversary, and as part of the spat, the Pentagon restricted Israel's access to the Joint Strike Fighter programme, which is to create a fighter to replace the F-16 for the United States, Israel and several European countries

PTP, this is a "Dog bites man" headline.......we expected anything else?

Even when a courtcase is currently underway against a USAF(R) Colonel charged with passing 37 Top Secret documents to a pro-Israel lobby group ?

The REAL headline will be " US redefines its policy towards Israel in light of repeated miscalls".....but I'm not holding my breath.....

So were the allegations that Israel was passing on technology from the US to it's clients proven? Would love to see a photo of that glass cockpit in the new Chinese F-16 class fighter.
Israel fitted what was essentially a reverse engineered APG-68 radar from an F-16C into South African Cheetah (upgraded Mirage 3s) fighters over 10 years ago. That was admitted to me by an RSA Cheetah pilot 10 years back.
