Israel and the Haradim

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I read recently that the ultra-orthodox could make up 25% of the population of Israel by 2025. Now I understand that most of them seem to get exemptions from National service, are full-time religious zealots and live off the state, so where does this leave the State of Israel both econonically and in terms of security if this happens without any major change on the part of the Haradim? Many Haradim do serve but they are a tiny majority and face problems in their community for doing so.

  2. The Haradim and their extreme views are the reason Israel needs a large army yet they are exempt compulsory military service that everyone else does to protect them as they allegedly spend all their time in religious study and so cannot work or serve in the military. Have your cake and eat it or what?

  3. I hope their exemptions become invalid and they are forced to serve their nation. Right now they are parasites with no dog in the fight.

  4. If their God did not protect them during the Holocaust, do the Haradim chaps think he will do so next time round if the arabs come out on top?

Reaing the Torah for hours on end won't stop a jihadi with an AK or a T62. I can see why so many Israelis are fed up with them.

have you seen a torah lately - it could stop a .50 cal round and then be used to bludgeon the jihadi to death.

glad they get called up though - if they are truly israeli then they should serve - if not then the iranians will take them

    Fine body of men.

  8. If you read the article I linked to above you will see that a lot of them are not happy about this proposed change in the law.

In addition to not being conscripted they also receive subsidies from the government, many do not work at all. This situation dates from the 1950s when they were a very small percentage of the population. However because their birth rates are much higher than most other Israelis the country now finds itself in a very different situation.

  9. One thing that's baffled me about this lot is this: who decided that looking like an absolute cnut was a good idea? Shaved head, pigtails, homburgs and fecking overcoats in 40°C? Not exactly the GQ look is it? And it's no wonder they all smell like a wet Labrador. Does it specifically mention this bullshit in the Torah? No, it doesn't does it? Just like the Koran mentions f-all about burkas, jihad and suicide. I saw a troop of Hasidic kids being shepherded through Manchester Airport a few weeks ago and I felt sorry for them having to go through life looking like a self-imposed freak. I simply cannot understand how seemingly sensible adults can willingly subscribe to this dogmatic control freakery like they do.

  10. I think they will be forced into Tzahal soon, the demographics previously mentioned will not allow fence-sitters in those numbers. The most Ultra-orthodox actually don't support the State of Israel, they actually think there should be no secular use of Hebrew until the Messiah returns, (they use Yiddish). There may be some continued exemption for these and others at the nuttier end of the spectrum.

The wearing of the overcoats (actually some are specially-adapted, a bit like "lightweight" suits) and the stupid hats are from the Central European Ashkenazi shtetl, it's a tradition thing, a bit like putting the wife in a sack just before landing at an Iranian airport. Most of the original Kibbutz volunteers were a communist/socialist reaction to the more religious elements.

Most of my Jewish mates in Israel couldn't stand them. Normally, Israelis just let them get on with it, they like to see it and be reminded of the reason they're there, but wouldn't want to actually be forced to live like that. Major pain in bed, too. If they adhere to the correct form of their sect, they have to cover the wife in a sheet and do it through a hole in the sheet, in order that they don't have their spiritual ethos disturbed too much (I'm not joking, by the way - I thought this was a good "wind-up for the innocent English Goy", until one of the nutties told me it was true).

Anyway, if you've seen the size of the Plain of Jezreel (Armageddon), it's very good tank country, and there's plenty of room for all who wish to join in. Until then, they are useful for manning the illegal settlements; better than having nice Jewish boys from Golders Green getting hurt.
