ISP blocker

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Can anyone recommend a decent ISP blocker? I'm outside the UK but want to be able to use stuff like iPlayer etc. Ideally a free one would be preferable but if I need to shell out a couple of quid it's not too much of an issue.

    Thanks in advance

  2. ISP blocker? I think you'd need a proxy site/program. Try TOR, I think that works.

  3. I'm working in Tunisia at the moment and they have quite tough rules on what ISPs they block, but my i player still works okay.

They only have one inbound and outbound server in Tunisia and are very strict indeed on what they allow. They seem to have all the proxy sites cut out too.

Point being if you are already out of the UK you might not be able to download TOR or anything like that becasue they block them

Doesn't half limit your porn intake

  4. Ummm, sorry for sounding like a complete mong (which, to be fair, I am when it comes to anything remotely technical!) but what is TOR?

  5. Tor is a program which allows you to basically hide your identity online, and if I remember correctly appear to be in any part of the world. So I think you can set it to make you appear from inside the UK and therefore watch BBC iPlayer et al.

  6. Forks - cheers, I'll give it a whirl

Scouse_scribe - my porn intake stands at nil so that side of things isn't too much of a problem!
