They have AKs and mg's in their community centres, we only had table-tennis and 5-a-side in ours.

Makes you wonder how they lost.

Shock horror. Kids in south armagh getting excited playing at their version of cowboys and indians. Who'd have thunk it. Hopefully more of them than previous generations will grow out of the idea and end up aspiring to be car dealers/farmers/train drivers/fuel smugglers/call centre workers. It's a slow process, but we're getting there. It must be the constant rain that numbs the wit here. Who wouldn't want for something better than hating your neighbour for how your perceive they worship the shared deity? I'm really lucky in that I get to "work" in some of the shittier bits of the country. In my humble and purely anecdotal experience the majority of folks want to get their kids to school, pay as little in the way of tax as they need to, and hope their kids do "better" in life than the previous generation. If we're getting all annoyed at the micks using euro money for the like of this, best not to mention how tax payers cash has been thrown at "celebrations" of orange culture eh?

Please tell me this place has been closed down or better still bulldozed. They closed down a nursery near me a couple of years back for producing child porn. This sort of thing is much worse.

Just a bunch of sad, old terrorist scum who are trying to make out htey are celebrities in the local area. Relive the 'glory' days boyos, in 10 years time you'll be reviled for keeping your nation in the sh1t pit that it is.

What an interesting sense of community they celebrate in that 'community centre'.

That particular part of the world is, um, different. Two generations of British Army and RUC spent a lot of time staring bemusedly at the local population, wondering where the DNA overlap with humanity was. I was always pretty sure that South Armagh represented the last holdout Neanderthal population - although to be fair, the area did produce some first-rate, pragmatic and competent terrorists. Clearly the life of a fuel-smuggling, tax-avoiding, smuggling, protection-racket-running hill farmer is the best possible preparation for membership of an illegal paramilitary organisation.

We should also bear in mind that the 'Ra is viewed somewhat differently in the area to how we view it. Look at the BFO memorial to fallen 'Volunteers' in O Fiaich Square in XMG; leaving aside its dubious artistic merit, it's pretty highly regarded locally. Recent unpleasantnesses such as when a local young man was beaten to death, multiple bones shattered, in a shed in Co Louth by a team of boiler suit-clad Republicans while an invited audience watched, seem not to have altered the local perception overmuch.

100kt airburst over Glasssdrumman would probably do the trick and have the serendipitous benefit of kicking Dundalk into the Irish Sea. Struggling to see the downside, here.
