LCpl was a rank given to the army by Queen Victoria, it is higher than an AB in the RN and higher than an SAC in the RAF, the other 2 services have no equivalent, when being addressed a LCpl should be known as Cpl by all ranks.
This is similar to the RSM thing with only the CO and above being in the position to address the RSM as 'RSM' ...with everyone else meant to be calling him 'Sir' or 'RSM, Sir'
Actually Interceptor is quite correct. Only the CO of unit is to address the RSM as "RSM". All others below his rank would use "Sir". All officer would refer to him as "Mister.......".
Rubbish! the RSM is referred to as Mr ...... as a matter of courtesy by very very junior Officers, there after it just depends on how well you know him, if well then Mr ........... if not then RSM.
I will caveat that by saying Corps or Bn traditions will supercede this.
i do believe that only an RMP LCpl has to be addressed as 'Corporal' by Majors and below, never 'Lance Corporal', not sure about other Corps/Regiments, then again i might be talking b*llocks!!
When I was a WO1 I was always addressed as Mr by officers and sir by those junior - pretty clear cut really and all this ollox about addressing LCpl's as LCpl is balloney - all units address LCpls as Cpl and LSgts / LCoH as sgt and CoH respectively.
Where appropriate soldiers are addressed by their generic rank without qualifications, therefore Generals, Lieutenant Generals and Major Generals are all addressed as General. Colonels and Lieutenant Colonals as Colonel, Corporals and Lance Corporals as Corporal Staff Sergeants and Colour Sergeants as Staff or Colour and CSMs as Sergeant Major. It would almost certainly be prudent to address the RSM as Sir.

I always used "Mr <insert name here>, Sir" when gaining the attention of any level of "Sir" in a gaggle of "Sirs". No one at any rank ever took exception.
