Is family in hhcav essential for officer entry

Only once you've stopped serving! It's less than £200 while you're still in.
Amazing deal. Having allowed the Green Mafia to join (as they are in dispute with their current landlord) you might have to up that to cope with breakages!
Outstanding venue and I went there for a board meeting.

They've been a welcome addition, not least because they brought a decent painting with them. if you go back and find yourself at the breakfast room on the second floor, look out for the painting of Kaiser Wilhelm donated by the man himself.

Anyway, this is now well off topic and I'll get a beating from the Duke if we don't get back to the thread subject.

In short for the OP: no unit in the army is unaffordable for anyone without massive financial commitments, including the cavalry. The Cav is a particularly fun place to serve so I'd recommend it to anyone if they like the idea of driving around in armoured vehicles and would enjoy being part of a mess that generally socialises together.

Luckily the latest Cav officer sport only requires a one off payment on a canoe and you just keep flares off any exercise you go on.
Oi, that is not any cavalry officers sport, that is the sport of Albertous Junior's very soon to be regiment. His RSB interview consisted of two questions. 1. Can you canoe? and 2. How inaccurate are you with non declared flares?

That used to hang in the London Club in Davies Street...

Black Mafia.
And its not really a dispute; the Grosvenor Estate realised how valuable the London Club premises are, and...

Kaiser Bill.JPG

Presented to an ancestor Regiment prior to WW1, the Bn faced a bit of a problem in the first Great Unpleasentness.

The dichotomy being, he's the Kaiser and we are at war. So the picture can hardly stay on the wall.

But... but.. the painting was presented by a guest, and can hardly be taken down.

Compromise: picture stayed on the wall, but facing it...

Bet your lot own the rather impressive picture of Oliver Cromwell (by the gents loo) as well, or is that a kick back to the New Model Army!

Club decoration is a topic for another thread, and in another part of the site please.

OP’s question is answered, so thread locked.
