Is Ammunition liable for VAT?

  1. Sorry if this is a bone question. Just started a new job and ammo is part of my remit. Given the pricelist and it got me wondering if all or some of the natures we use liable for VAT? Strange question I know, but just to salve my curiosity. :?
  2. No, because they are a 'warlike store'.
  3. Sorry, I don't pay for it, I just turn it in to brass :p
  4. Makes you think... If only some natures were considered luxury items, then VAT would be incurred - arty ammo!

    Just had a chat to our Project Manager types and I think Arty ammo has VAT on it.

    MOD claim it back anyway don't they?

  6. Standard rate VAT @ 17.5%.

    (unless exported, even to HM Forces. So the ammo that you havent got enough of in Basra, actually 'duty free' ...Whoop-de-fcukin-do! :x )
