After having dug down to a depth of ten metres last year, Scottish scientists found traces of copper wire dating back for at least a hundred years. This gave rise to the conclusion that their ancestors had a working telephone network all that time ago.

Not to be outdone by the Scots, in the weeks that followed, scientists in England dug to a depth of twenty metres and shortly afterwards, headlines in the newspapers read............
'Archaeologists in Essex have found traces of 200 year old copper wire and have concluded that England already had an advanced high-tech communications network in place a hundred years earlier than the Scots.

Two weeks later "The Kerryman" an Irish newspaper, reported the following.
After digging to a depth of thirty metres in a peat bog near Tralee, Paddy O'Malley, a self taught archaeologist, found absolutely nothing..... Paddy has therefore concluded that over two hundred years ago Ireland had already gone wireless
