Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Simple question really: just out of interest, is the Iraq Medal still being awarded? The MOD website still has it listed as being a current medal but then again, they didn't removed the GSM from the page until about a year after Banner was done and dusted...

  2. It is still a current medal. Those Brits still in Iraq (NATO Training Mission) receive the Iraq Medal.

  3. What's the criteria for the Iraq Re-construction medal?

  4. In summary, its this:

    " Qualifying Period
The qualifying period for the medal is set at 40 days of continuous service, or 40 days of service
on working visits within Iraq aggregated over a period of one calendar year, provided that the visits
are for a minimum of 48 hours each."

    ..........full details are here http://www.official-documents.gov.uk/document/cm70/7000/7000.pdf

  5. Cheers for that barbs. Do the Navy / RFA operating in the Gulf still get it?
