We ask if the battle for hearts and minds in Iraq has come at the expense of the hearts and minds of British troops and their families.

For the British, the war has inflicted a huge burden on the armed forces - overstretch, resource starvation, and challenges to conventional strategy, equipment and morale.

  2. This survey by the Army Wives Federation must be rather alarming to the MOD and may be the reason for the recent financial inducements announced by the PM.
  3. Atleast they dont have 15 month tours like the Americans.
  4. But it may come if Iraq goes south and the army stays the same size!
  5. Well in that case the UK will have to do like the US and offer HUGE bonuses. Specail forces guys there get a retainment bonus anywhere from $30,000 to an $100,000+. Either that or pull out with a nice reason to why... ya know, like "the Iraq's are ready, there isnt anything else we can do".
