Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that his country does not need nuclear weapons.
At a rare news conference in Tehran, Mr Ahmadinejad said they were needed only by people who "want to solve everything through the use of force".

hhmm, backtracking? smokescreen? they find out its too expensive and cant get it to work? or has a deal been done?

Smokescreen. They are going hell-for-leather for Nukes, and have been for over 20 years. Can I remind those who forget/choose to forget that it's only because the Iranians were found out that this ever came to light. If they hadn't been discovered doing what is entirely illegal under the terms of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which they freely signed up to, then we wouldn't have this opportunity to try to stop this before it is too late.

Planning and achieving something like this, starting from basics like setting up engineering and nuclear research departments in Universities, and 'growing' their own scientists and technicians, is a National effort (See Manhattan Project for details...). They have invested immense amounts in this, and are not going to stop because the EU - or even the UN - says so.
  3. Iran does'nt want nukes? Riiiiiight...
