Rudi, typing everything in capitals is considered very rude on the internet, the equivalent of a Sgt Major nose to nose with you SHOUTING at you! ;-)

You will get a better response if you edit your original post and type it in both upper and lower case. As you may notice, reading capitals is very, very hard on the eyes.

If you want to set up an internet cafe you will need to know the customs of the internet! You might want to have a look at http://www.bbc.co.uk/webwise/askbruce/articles/boards/netiquette_1.shtml

    Happy posting.

  4. Sounds pretty much like a WRVS type setup, is there one on camp already that could be expanded?

As for the Internet Cafe, your best bet is to approach the G1 staff who deal with welfare and convince them to fund it.

This project comes in 4 parts.

    Funding (G1)

    Premises (G4)

LAN design and build, upgrade of mains ring and addition of extra power outlets. Installation of Broadband/ISDN dependant on locality to the exchange (G6)

    IT Equipment (G6)

IT Support, either self help or assistance from the local IT/IS boys (G6).

The main issue is getting support and funding. The more help you can get from Mil units the cheaper it will be.

Find the local Sigs Sqn and make contact with the FofS for a start. To be effective you will need their support anyway. He should be able to provide points of contact and local skillsets to help.

Once up and running manage your network with an iron rod. Watch out for the misuse of phone lines and the bypassing of security settings enabling porn diallers. If you do not do this you will suffer greatly and no doubt end up shut down.

    Good Luck

I am aware that various welfare catering facilities in BFG are under threat because of PAYD. It is worth rememberering that when PAYD comes in the contractors will have control of all catering, so you may want to consider an internet facility rather than an internet cafe.
