    This guy lost everything, photos of his kids, everything. Have to say if it had been me I would be hunting the hackers down.

    Lessons Identified - Do an audit of your online life and try and mitigate the risks.

    Back up everything to an external drive and I would suggest an online storage site (I use Google Drive, Microsoft Sky Drive and Dropbox as I am truly paranoid). Sensitive stuff should be encrypted.

    Use two factor authentication if you can.

    Any other thoughts?

    Encrypt your external drive and store it off site. We had someone at work have a laptop pinched from his house along with the back up drive which was plugged into it....

    good call i have now removed my backup disk from the pc where it was always plugged into
