Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Well, move over Roman Polanski.

Lawyers acting for Palestinians are seeking an international arrest warrant from a UK court for the Israeli defence minister, Ehud Barak, based on the findings of the UN in Gaza which, it is claimed, support the allegations of war crimes

Which might just be causing some consternation as he is due to speak at a fringe meeting at the Labour party conference in Brighton today.
  2. The problem being that any Old Bill who feel his collar stand a good chance of being "Mossad'ed" at a later stage.

  3. Even if they got one, it'd just be yet another international edict Israel would ignore and we'd turn a blind eye to.

That's certainly put the pressure on Labour then. Most of them hate the Israelis with a passion, and the rest a haven't the balls to call time on his freedom while he's in the UK.

Ignoring a UN call to arrest him for war crimes on the other hand .... oooh, what a dilemma.
  5. Wasn't there an arrest warrant issued for Menachem Begin for murder a long time back when he was a member of whatever gang it was. When he then became Head of State and visited UK in his official capacity........nothing happened. Or was that an urban myth ?
  6. Why a UK court? Whats wrong with France, Germany, US etc, or are they likely to get the big FO from these countries?
  7. In a word: "YES"! But the UK doesn't have the balls to feel his collar either.
  8. They've got two hopes of landing him with this warrant (if indeed it ever materialises) - and the other one used to play golf.
