Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Interesting observation in the blog of Dr Patrick Porter, an Australian and a Lecturer in Defence Studies at King’s College London, working at the British Defence Academy.

  2. McChrystal knows what he is doing. Woe betide any US President who gets in his way just as he is achieving real success. It will be obvious pretty quickly if his strategy is working, focus on Pakistan is paying off. From my armchair, the Talibs, really for the first time, have a reason to come to the negotiating table, otherwise they can see their chance of power slipping away.

Obama will play politics in the US, his bigger problem is the economy, if that starts performing his numbers will improve and slippage in Afg will become acceptable.

This is difficult but not impossible. In a relatively short time McChrystal has achieved an awful lot. Rather puts our mixed up plan and strategy in the previous 3 years in the shade. He also brings an awful lot of confidence to the game.

My money is on the big man delivering, he has form....

McChrystal for president? Could be if he wins out, he plays a canny game.
