I was sent this link the other day and it does make interesting reading: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/25/opinion/letter-from-saudi-arabia.html?_r=0
I was well aware that the internal education system in Saudi had changed quite a lot in the past 10 years or so and was quite informed of the more outward looking youth who's more decadent (read western teen type) activities are now common place as well as the huge change in age demographics but had no idea how many Saudis had gone overseas to study (all paid for by the state) and gone home again.
Nor was I aware of just how big a monopoly the govt (royal family) had on certain areas of the economy.
The interview is almost an ackowledgement that the higer-ups in Saudi society know, and have done for some time that the oil party is coming to an end.
It's going to be an interesting decade, especially once they have to introduce taxes!
