Insurance for civvies on Ops

Discussion in 'Finance, Property, Law' started by girl_in_green, Aug 14, 2007.

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I know of MOD civilians who will shortly be deploying on ops. I know of Pax, Towergate Wilsons, Forces Financial, etc, who all offer life / accident insurance for military personnel. But does anyone know if there is anyone who will cover civvies?

I'm told that Integro Insurance Brokers in London specialise in this sort of thing.

    Contact Andrew Pickthorn on 0207 444 6050

Please note that I'm not endorsing this company; I am not a customer and have no other connection.

  3. Sorry, we unable to help as civilians cannot take out PAX (although XPAX is available for veterans) but I believe Forces Financial may be able to assist you.

  4. I would check with the employes too. They may have indurance on all their employees or should be able to put you on to someone who will provide it.

  5. Employers should have sufficient insurance for their staff when sending them to such places as part of work. That's about it really, shouldn't need additional unless they are contractors (their own company) or want extra.

  6. Check out all you finances.

If you have medical cover “BUPA type” confirm that they accept you are going to be working as a non combatant and should still be covered.

Is there a clause saying you can pick up a gat to defend yourself if it goes pear shaped and still be covered.

Do you have a mortgage? If so I doubt there is any cover for going to a sandy place.

Your employer should pick up the tab for the extra policy to cover you while you’re out there.

We can certainly help MoD civilian employees, and also look at MoD contractor’s personal insurance requirements on a case by case basis dependent on the nature of their tasks and role. So the civvies could call us on:

    00800 11 22 33 06
free from the UK and Germany
    +44 (0) 208 4208919
    from rest of the world

or go to www.forcesfinancial.com where they can request a call from one of our advisors.

Forces Financial is a trading name of Stuart Harvey Insurance Brokers Limited who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. Registration number 301858. Registered Office: Globe House, 24 Turret Lane, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP4 1DL

  8. Major life insurance providers will cover not only civvies on ops but military who are going on ops aswel, large compnaies like legal and general will cover you however they will add a loading onto your monthly premium which can turn out to be very expensive, but life cover is a must and is worth every penny, and as for the people saying it is your employers responsibility i would suggest ignoring them as it is your responsibility to cover your life(family) for the amount you require e.g mortgage loans and maybe a couple of years worth of your salary to help your family get buy should the worst happen. Your employer will probably pay out a multiple of salary but unless you are mortgage free or live in a cardboard box then this wont be enough.
