Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Has anybody tried to install Ubuntu 10.4 onto a formatted hard drive. All I get is "signal over range".I get the idea that I have to change the resolution and maybe refresh rate, but since I can't get past this message what do I do.Lots of this on forums but no answer. Not a new pc,its for my sons use,but I thought Ubuntu was resource friendly
  2. msr

    msr LE

    Try a different monitor...
  3. Are you getting the initial install splash screen up?

If so, hit F4 and chose safe graphics mode for the install.

    Otherwise use Fedora instead :)
  4. May I suggest a different distro as opposed to waiting for a resolution (pun definitely not intended) to your issue.

    I use OpenSuse.
  5. I like Ubuntu the problem is your monitor settings try safe mode
  6. Given up, trying Legacy PUppy instead, might have more luck
