Initial USAF HH-60W Combat Rescue Helicopter in Final Assembly

The first of an eventual 112 Sikorsky HH-60W Combat Rescue helicopter for the USAF has entered final assembly.

The type is designed to replace the venerable USAF HH-60G Pavehawks which have seen operational service in the Balkans, Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, the Philippines and Africa for almost 3 decades. Although externally similar to the HH-60G, the W is based on the upgraded US Army UH-60M and will have entirely new avionics and data links allowing it to cooperate with current ISR and 5th Gen fighter aircraft seamlessly. It also features double the internal fuel capacity of the UH-60M and a drogue AAR capability.

The W will ultimately be the primary USAF Combat Rescue asset around the World; hopefully, it won't have much trade!
