Info on trades

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Could anyone give me info on the following trades, whether they do the trade themselves or have knowledge of what its like

ie pros/cons of the jobs, time spent doing the specific trade. any help would be great
  2. driver specialist - remove specialist & leave in the word driver, hey presto.

equipment mechanic - not too sure which trade you are referrring to, if its fitter then its not too shabby a trade to take up.

resources specialist - remove specialist & then ask youself if you want to count different pieces of eqpt for the rest of your career as well as ordering eqpt (but ensuring that it never arrives on time at the right location)

hope this helps in some small way.

did your last question not get answered sufficiently then?
  3. Not really mate - thanks for the info - every answer throws up more questions - if the AFCO where anyhelp I would go there but better to get the lowdown off the people who have done/are doing it.

ill get somewhere one day thou!!
  4. are they the only choices available to you then?
  5. No but they are the ones am looking into currently. what trades would you suggest be better to look into
  6. if at all possible fella i would go down the artisan trade route if you can( i.e sparky-plumber-fitter acr-fitter).

these are all good trades & the civvy quals you get are well recognised when you leave.

this of course is only my humble opinion & am sure other lads will tell you there are better trades out there available to you.

  7. be aware that the careers office will be trying to fill slots within the corps that need filling so if you want a trade & have the required standards to train for it stick to your guns & don't let them rail-road you into a trade you don't want to do.

  8. I am with Knocker on this, see out other responces in the similar threads.

Knocker do you think we should start our own thread about being a Sparky in the Corps as this seems to be our main job on the Sapper thread lately, Ben etc.

Very fitting that my 1000th post is on the Sapper thread, what a fluke. ( not the test meter )
  9. always will push lads towards being a sparks but like we say there are other good trades out there to be had.

nice hit with the 1000th fella.
