Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. What do you think is a better job and why because I am not sure witch one will be best thanks!!!
  2. Have we not been before, please do not become a troll, they are so tiresome...

    Previous attempt
  3. This is my Career am talking about and I like to make the right decision I only have 15days to pick Infantry or RLC Driver and I like to make the right one!
  4. So why not persevere with the thread you have already started...

You have recieved answers commensurate with the information you have (or not) provided; there is such a vast gulf between the two employment options you have selected that it is difficult to advise without more information.

I think you are trolling but provide some decent information and I may re-consider this opinion.

Your avatar does not exactly reassure either!
  5. Stouty - from the variuos threads you have posted you should by now have a more than a good idea as to what to do.

    However to summerise for you:

    1) become a driver - gain your driving liecence for almost anything that moves on the road ( at no cost to you )its a relativly safe job and by that i mean its not directly a front line occupation. At the end of your army life you will be able to use your skills as a driver in civvie street.

    2) become a infantier - learn to fire weapons of all kinds and at the end of your army life you can run around civvie street shoting people !
    (bad attempt at humour)

seriously - both options have there advantages and disadvantages, its really up to you to make your own mind up, sorry mate

    ITS YOUR CHOICE !!!!!!!!
  6. ok thanks I have made my decision I am goining to do Infantry

Having just returned from Telic I think the re supply convoys and their close protection are pretty close to the sharp end.

Es ist nicht alles Gold, was glänzt.
  8. Percy - i did say its not directly a front line job. everyone knows that re supply etc are "pretty close to the sharp end".

The point was more on humuor than exact-ness.

    sorry if i have offended

    No offence taken.

Just wanted to steer the guy straight, sometimes the humour can get in the way of a genuine question.

The waahs are hard to spot if your are as gullible as I am,
  10. what are waahs i hear that a lot is it some Army saying??
  11. Top Quality Waah. Hope you yet fella......
  12. Fuckin Waaaaaaaah!!!! Out.
  13. Stouty why not do both be a Driver in the Infantry. 70% of the British Army drves vehicles anyway.
Most Infantry Bn's need specialist driver too on deployents - of course once you are in if its not for you apply to transfer to the RLC that can happen too. However if thats just a bit too close to the front line go RLC from the off.

Just one piece of advice go in Army with one eye on when you come out - get military qualification of use in civvi street and while in enjoy the experience mate - the highs the lows and everything in between.

Oh I remember going to the careers office and the St said what do you want to do son - drive I said he laughed and told me the above - I went infantry and never looked back - now where is that lamp to polish and swing!
