Infamous Expressions and the Law of Unintended Consequences

#1
This may very well belong in the NAAFI but I'll risk starting it here.

Over time there have been many instances of expressions used to convey an intent, and which have had an unfortunate outcome that clearly wasn't the intent.

Two such expressions are:

'Work 'em hard' (Camp Breadbasket)
'Bring him to me panting like a dog'

Any more out there

"So, you enjoy working with children?"

"I love kids."

"Excellent..."

"na, the kids are asleep, they're dosed up tothe eyeballs of nytol, let's nip out for dinner. No, leave the patio doors open, it's a warm night, the breeze will help the kid sleep.

The one that started it all: "who will rid me of this turbulent priest"

When done with the history lesson (its all I remember), think what would have happend if Ian/Jan Hamilton hadn't been called a 'complete pussy' by his/her PTI.

P.S. This should definitley be in the NAAFI.
