In Memoriam: Tanky Smith

SMITH, Ian Fraser 'Tanky' Lt. Col. (Ret) MBE - Passed away suddenly on Aug 7, 2003. Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, greatly missed. Enquiries to Dawe Bros

Remfs, shineys and 'hats who worked for Tanky, be deeply saddened at the passing of this top bloke. This is posted for the hundereds of 'hats who knew him, who are now serving elsewhere.

Those who have cleared the Final RV ahead of him, will certainly have a few pints stacked up waiting on st peter's bar!

We are the Pilgrims, master; we shall go
Always a little further; it may be
Beyond that last blue mountain barred with snow,
Across that angry or that glimmering sea,

White on a throne or guarded in a cave
There lives a prophet who can understand
Why men were born: but surely we are brave,
Who make the Golden Journey to Samarkand.
If anyone thinks this is not the right place, then perhaps we need a new section??

Thanks for the news,

Had the honour of listening to Tanky's lecture on leadership about 15 years back - great stuff - I wish I'd got a transcript.
