Impending institutional 'blind eye' scandal?

Aren't Trading standards and environmental health at local authority level?
Guess it will be blamed on Tory Austerity as usual
Deputy Mayor on BBC R4 was doing the best Teflon-shouldered, “not our jurisdiction guv” the other day.

If it was a factory involved iit would have been inspected by the Health and Safety Executive, a central government agency that has been cut to the bone.

An excellent Act of Parliament ruined by lawyers and ridiculous rulings leading to a tick the box culture concerning Health and Safety in the workplace. People worry more about the forthcoming potential lawsuit than the actual what is needed component.

Edited to add - the owners of the sweatshops are hardly going to declare them as factories.

P.S. When are we to expect the BLM squad to turn up Leicester condemning this outrage?

Every day brings a new scandal it seems. Its almost like watching the fall of Rome in slow motion.
I`m glad I`m getting on a bit, hopefully won`t be around when the UK finally goes tits up.

Some progress:

Here's an interesting article from some Socialist claque who blame the Tories (obvs) but it does list the various reports and exposés on the industry over the last couple of years.

I fear if the NCA "follow the money" some interesting names and connections will emerge.

I should apologise for posting an article from the Daily Mail, but it's a good article revealing the brazeness of the sweatshop owners and managers:

I think the NCA will also find other subcontractors providing garments under .modern slavery conditions.

What, with a Council made up of 51 Labour councillors out of 53, a directly elected Labour Mayor, three Labour Members of Parliament and a Labour Police and Crime Commissioner?

Surely not.....
