Illegal Immigrants may be barred from NHS Services.

About bloody time

Do you think someone in Government has finally realised that costs them money, with no return from those Illegal Immigrants using the NHS?

Health care in the UK is only free to illegals and other foreigners , the rest of us have to pay thru NI , taxes etc , you don't pay you dont receive .

No, they're just desperate to divert attention away from the funding scandal.

John Reid promised the same thing a few years ago when he was health secretary. Nothing was done then and nothing will be done now.

It would be a brave, brave NHS employee who asked anybody about their immigration status. They'd be up on racism charges before they got to the end of the sentence.

Well I was born in South Africa, my parents were British, my old man served in the RGJ back in the dark ages - I have a British passport and have had one since I was about 10 years old.

I do have a slight SAF accent though and when I've registered with aGP thy've always checked my status by getting a copy of my passport.

I agree, it's probably all a very poor attempt to deflect the flak about the funding scandal. Even if HMG did try to impose this on the NHS, it would probably run afoul of the Human Rights Act and We'd be back to square one. Even if it didn't, it would be next to impossible for hospital staff to veryify the nationality, prior to treatment, of everyone who arrived at A&E, especially if they were unconscious.

Who needs a passport or,I.D. card,I have a N.I. number,what about you?

I do agree with the other posts though, this is just about diverting attention away from a crappy 10 year old NHS policy, that never has,and never will work as long as the money goes to the administrators, and not the medics!

The cunningly worded HRA does not in fact cover NHS patients. Hence NHS hospitals can, and do, tell cancer patients to fcuk off and die because they don't have the resources to treat them.

On the other hand, if you're a Somalian murderer with a fondness for gunning down unarmed police women during armed robberies, you are fully covered.

I gave up years ago trying to find an NHS dentist, so I now have a dentist in spain. Last time I went on holiday booked myself in cost me 48 Euros for a filling to be replaced. And the Bonus is She Finnish with great tits as well a pleasant chair side manner.

You better believe it fatty, it's all the justification this Government needs to enforce their new law, despite the err...'loss' of those discs.

Our future seems to be an RFID chip implanted in our foreheads.

The major reason why the NHS is on its backside along with all other public services for that matter, is the amount of newcomers into this country.

Make them pay through the nose and then give them a big kick up the backside when they are flown home to whatever dump they originate from.

No more biff chits!

When will we get a political party that will actually have the best interests of the people at heart?

Probably never.

The Observer reported that the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) think-tank estimates there are up to 390,000 failed asylum seekers in the UK who would lose access to free healthcare provision under the plans.
If they are failed asylum seekers, that must mean that by definition, they do not need asylum. If so, why are they still here?
Mainly because the government isn't well enough organised to deport people. It can take years. Compare and contrast with a bloke I worked with in foreign parts. He overstayed his business visa. The day after the visa expired, the police came to his hotel room and arrested him. They took him straight to the airport and put him on the first plane back to the UK.

A growing problem is with the number of people who have no 'safe route' back to their countries of origin. Many illegals hail from third world cesspits with no direct air links to London. If they'd have to go home via anywhere unpleasant, the government wont force them to leave the UK.

Fair enough really. I mean the transit lounge at Mogadishu might not have satellite telly available 24/7 and that would clearly infringe the ex-illegal's human rights innit?

To cater for these people the Home Office runs a scheme called 'Section 4' or 'hard case' support. Wait for it - it's a welfare benefit that is only avilable to failed asylum seekers.

It works very well in Australia where everyone who is entitled to medical care has a card which he/she has to show when they go to a doctor/dentist/hospital. Stops all these freeloaders from getting treatment without paying for it

let them visit the doctors once, and give the Illegals a lethal dose. Numbers would soon drop then.

All visitors, whether legal or otherwise, are entitled to emergency treatment for free. It's the scrotes who go straight from the airport to the doctors to get their ongoing problems sorted that are the drain on the economy. It is already against the rules to provide this type of service but if a doctor turned away an illegal Somalian just about to drop twins or a Bangaldeshi about to pop his clogs with a heart attack (which he had in Dhaka but still managed to get on a plane and travel to Heathrow) can you imagine the uproar the liberal press would create?
The rules are already in place, just needs the will to enforce it.
