Is anyone else having problems with their computer since the new addition of IE8 as an automatic update? Sorry if this has already been flogged to death!
Yep. It nearly killed my computer.
I dumped it then moved to Mozilla Firefox.

Firefox is excellent.

Dont understand all the problems people have with I.E 8 - I mean I rarely use it, spending most of my time with F.F or Chrome, but I dont have any issues with it.

In fact in many ways it is the best I.E in a long time.

But then am also running the R.C of Win 7 as the OS, so that may eliminate any of the potential issues.

That's what you get for not using Firefox and Avast!!!

It practically brought my machine to a halt. Everything was bloody slow and it took ages when I was clicking between websites and so on. It seemed to takes ages to load websites. Good for having time for getting a new beer out of the fridge but shit for porn!

Well, for test purposes, I started up IE 8 and flicked through a few pages...some YouTube etc.

Not a problem - comparable speed to F.F

Just to see if it was down to the IE8/Win' 7 combination - I switched to a machine using Vista... same thing, IE8 was fine.

I reiterate that I use FF 80% of the time, followed by Chrome and IE only rarely, but I still dont understand why folks have so much trouble with IE8.

Got to agree with Pompey Jock, I can't figure out the issues people are having. I use IE8 on my laptop, home pc and servers in the office and haven't had any major issues at all.

Having said that Im pretty fortunate that my machines are all quite beefy.

I let the upgrade carry on and regretted it as soon as I seen IE8, immediately rolled back and am happy with 7 :)

In future if in doubt run it on virtual pc 1st to see how your pc reacts to it before installing it in your real machine.saves you a lot of hassle in the long run .PS could be why they make virtual pc in the 1st place

Just as a last thing here, I think my IE8 was clashing with my CCleaner and Spybot and that was my problem, but I'm not getting rid of them for no-one!

I've since moved to FF and meridian's porn advice works nicely thankyou!

Maybe the husbands of certain MP's might like to follow his advice too! It's a lot cheaper and Broadband's inclusive!!
