Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Found the pouch, pictured below, in a box of webbing. Not sure what its purpose is, though.

It's definately 1958 pattern, from the closure tab.

    Measures 9" x 4 " x 2.5 "

    NSN is something like 8105-99-949-6581

  2. It was for holding the physical literature. 24 properly rolled-up vank mags could be fitted in.

  3. That's a dull, predictable answer.

  4. 58 Pattern "Camelbak" holder perhaps! ;)

  5. Could it be the '44 Pattern carrier for the Vickers Machine Gun Range Slide Rule? The dimensions appear to be similar to the '37 Pattern version I have in my collection.

  6. The fastener is more 44 pattern than 58.

  7. No, the fastener was used on 1958 webbing items.
