I've heard that there is a new hybrid Lizard tread sole for the PECOC boots.

Lizard tread uses a micro suckers and hairs to provide grip. Until now the problem has been that they can quickly get clogged up with mud, and a also get worn away leaving flat slippery surfaces.

The hybrid soles have multiple layers of hairs and suckers so they don't wear out as quickly and they have traditional tread patterns as well in order to handle mud.

I can understand how on the deck of a ship or possibly or SF entry specialists in a wet urban environment having extra grippy boots could be an advantage but I don't think this would benefit the PBI.
