Husbands with Muliple Wives in Islam in the UK

Discussion in 'The ARRSE Hole' started by CharlieBubbles, Feb 4, 2008.

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Husbands with multiple wives to get extra benefits after Government gives the green light

Husbands living in a "harem" with multiple wives have been cleared to claim state benefits for all their different partners.

A Muslim man with four spouses - which is permitted under Islamic law - could receive £10,000 a year in income support alone.

He could also be entitled to more generous housing and council tax benefit, to reflect the fact his household needs a bigger property.
  2. Have a little compassion, any poor b#stard deserves all the help he can get with four ninja'd up haus fraus to provide for.
  3. This was effectively introduced by the Tories who recognised multiple marriages which were legal in the country where they were performed. It only applies to those who come to this country with multiple wives and does not allow those resident in this country to take multiple wives after settling here

    Multiple mother-in-laws? No thanks!

Seriously, does anyone have any knowledge of the extent of this, and also the legality? I thought that bigamy was illegal in the UK? I suppose the idea is that if the marriages were conducted abroad then they are legal. Would the same apply if a man of 40 were to marry a 9 year old girl (legal in some countries), and bring her to the UK?
  5. You really shouldn’t believe what you read in the Daily Mail. Second marriages are not recognised in law in this country and therefore you can not claim benefit for a second wife. There has been no change in the law and none proposed. The only exception may be an existing family who have successfully claimed asylum. There are very few of these as 90% of applications are rejected. Even then the claim can only be for dependents and not for a spouse which will affect the payment. The daily Mail is notorious for doing its best to stir up racism.

BY, he was quick off the mark, not sure what he would say if he knew it was now on here?
  6. I've got a great idea..........
Just like our foreign friends who now live here and leave their children behind – we pay them!
A Muslim man says he has four wives, three somewhere else, - lets just pay him too.

Bucket! Lets have a free for all and pay any phucker who now hides in Britain, never paid any tax but thinks they would like some more cash!

Don't worry only applies to a few.
  7. The Daily Mail has always been a paper that only caters for the great unwashed. This reality, however, is crucial, as this is the audience at which effective info campaigns need to be targetted, and whose perception can strongly influence current policy and election outcomes.

The truth, whatever that may be, is irrelevant - all the DM has done is adopt HMG's strategy of lies and spin, and here they have succeeded in trumps. The old adage stands true - if you can't beat 'em...........
