Let me guess - the Russians released them in mid-ocean with just a few little leaks in their inflatable? and probably a free gift of leg irons to ensure the bodies didn't wash up anywhere embarrassing?

The radio beacon that the Russians kindly provided the pirates with was probably a homing device to guide the ships missiles on to!
Unless ..... the pirates twigged this and tossed it overboard!

O'well, ill guess we will never know now.
