How long would

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. An application from a TA soldier take to process and how long before training as a regular can begin.

Just im thinking of a career change and fancy a spell as a reg.

    Cheers all
  2. Pretty much the same as it would take for a normal applicant unless you are going to apply for FTRS and just got a stint with the regulars as a TA soldier.

The Regulars are nearing their limit for recruitment and pretty much all jobs only have limited vacancies left, it would also depend on what job you are looking for too.
  3. Thats ok but the application time should surely be shorter as security clearence has already been done etc.
  4. Depends on your old and new chosen trade, time lapsed from last vetting process, your personal situation - has it changed, etc, etc.
  5. There is no security clearance done by the office, the only checks we carry out are basic ID initially ;)

The time scale is the same, in some cases slightly longer because as part of the RG8 medical questionnaire we then have to request your medical docs from your TA unit, if they drag their heels we end up waiting to proceed (nothing a swift kick up the arrse doesnt sort out though ;) ).

The only thing that does speed up, is the time from medical clearance to interview, specifically because we expect you to be fit for selection already if you have TA training behind you, if you arent then there is something wrong :)
