Oh dear...what limited credibility you may have had, has just been completely eroded!
I suggest you go out in a CST full of AVGAS (the world's biggest mobile fire-bomb) and drive it around BASRAH, or read the diary extract of the chefs att to 16x in SANGIN (sorry don't have the link) before you make anymore comments like that....
On a serious note, the RLC could be better. I'm not advocating carving it up back to the forming Corps, but chefs, despite doing an awesome job, sit awkwardly under the Corps. I believe Chefs could be organic to the unit they support, Royal have this system and it works very well.
The earlier post regarding moving RLC suppliers / drivers forward and integrating them fully into the BG is an interesting one.
This pretty much happens now with the LSR and the centralised A2 ech within the BSG. But fully integrating RLC personnel on to the UE would add little value.
The careers of professional loggies would be very badly managed (eg when would an inf CO ever place his PC&A supplier SNCO above that of a rifle troop SNCO), trust me, i've seen this when O grade suppliers/chefs/rad-ops are posted to a cbt arm and are reduced to tears when their pt2 comes back as a B because the OC/CO doesn't understand their appointment fully, hence we have a 3rd RO for these individuals!
More to follow...interesting thread irlsgt...how does the 'oglaigh na eireann' do G4? Am i right in thinking there is Log Bn in each Bde?
edited to add...oh and give posties to the RAF!
