How do we get our country back?

Apparently the West Indies cricket team have announced they may join England players in an anti-racism protest. That's good. I reckon there aren't enough white men in the Windies team.

I'd be hard pushed to find evidence that many ordinary folk think extremism from both sides of the political spectrum should not be restrained.

You're making the same assumption that the media is in that you think the country is inherently right wing with a left wing political and intellectual establishment.

On balance, it's not and Joe Public has a more nuanced appreciation than it's given credit for.

Generally not so much - I think if we had a proportional representation system with compulsory voting, our political makeup would resemble some of the other European countries with a bias towards centre left parties.

That pretty well sums it up. There's a yawning chasm between the views of the majority of the English people, and the views of the ruling Establishment.

Will that lead to a 21st Century Revolution? What do you think?

I thought we had a FPTP system?

By promising the populous a utopia in order to get them to physically oust the existing regime. Once this is done, the utopia isn't quite what they were promised.

Promise - equal distribution of all wealth and a universally equal income.

Reality - all wealth is seized by the state and never redistributed. The economy utterly fails and the people are brutally forced to work for virtually nothing once the state has run out of other people's money to spend.

Remember, BLM is noting to do with racism - it's the latest wing of the XLW movement that wants to instill socialism across the world. Sound familiar?

What We Believe - Black Lives Matter

"‘dismantle cisgender privilege’ and ‘disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure requirement by supporting each other as extended families and “villages” that collectively care for one another’"

World communism - Wikipedia

"The long-term goal of world communism is a worldwide communist society that is stateless (lacking any state), which may be achieved through an intermediate-term goal of either a voluntary association of sovereign states (a global alliance)"
And you're saying that to face this threat we need to replace the weak peacetime governments of the last 75 years with a "strong" government that will root out fifth columnists ?

What would such a government look like in practice today?

Absolutely disagree. Nuclear weapons, particularly CASD gives the nation the ability to completely obliterate a number of cities in an unstoppable way, even if that nation is destroyed. It is the ultimate deterrent. It is not about body count, it is about deterrence.

Bio weapons could in theory kill a large number of people, but isn't able to be directed, take a long time to spread and can be counteracted using existing ways and means. Just look at how COVID has petered out into a bit of a damp squib.

I know which one I would want my strategic deterrent to be based on...
Thanks for your reply, however look at the economic and social fallout from bio also nearly decapitated political leadership.

FPTP implies winning, and that in turn implies some form of victory and dominance.

We can't be having that.

Come second. It's the new form of first. Unless you can come third. Which is like, even first-er.
I'll now consider myself educated, thanks.

Like denying Churchill has both good and bad points you mean? Perhaps we agree here.
I would contend that every single person that gets to the top of their particular tree is what the media refer to as a 'complex character'. It is in the nature of the beast, it is part of their make-up, it may even be essential; who knows? In some societies this is just accepted, as long as the depth of the flaw doesn't detract excessively from the benefit of the talent. This applies in sport, politics, culture, journalism, business, the military and every other walk of life. Nobody is completely good and no-one is completely bad. C'est la vie.

We're at a stage that you must be impeccable at all levels or you may as way not bother. It's ridiculous of course.

Can we not just do something that has never been done in history.

Take two nations

Swap each other's lefties for righties, no dual nationalities, pick one.

Sign a peace and trade pact.

Start shipping out.

Everybody is happy, no need to vote out the ideaology, just who runs it.

See who fairs best, rinse and repeat.

Eventually, one nation will be empty.

Proving once and for all which of Socialism/communism/fascism V's capitalism is better.

Tada!

Reason being, because socialists are quite happy to have capitalism around so they can **** about with their little toy projects, but are not happy unless they controlling every aspect of society. What we are heading towards will never work.

You'd end up with Kim's North Korea and Genghis's Mongolia ;-)

Anything to slow them down works for me.
