How do I leave TA

#1
After 3 years of being in TA i can no longer commit the time required, ive not been in for 3 months and ive got other things planned for this year.
who do i need to give my letter of resignation too? can i just send an email to AO? or does it need to be more formal.

thanks in advance.

Set yourself a light in the TAC Carpark...

99% of the time, it works every time.

Say that you want to commit to full attendance, all possible weekends, become physically fit and deploy asap - they will happily show you the door.
A few of us tried this last year , the ones that dont give a **** and turn up when they feel like it got all the cream, we just got the shit.

Ask for a 12 month leave of absence. You can change your mind at a later point then.

Traditionally you just stuff all your gear into a black bin bag and chuck it over the fence with an insulting note attached.

edited to add- You could have a chat with your chain of command and explain your situation, then part on good terms if your mind is made up.

Theres a couple of forms to fill in including signing the official secrets act and you will have to pay up for any kit your missing.
In the TA you can leave at any time unless you have been mobilised

I've just done this. Go into the PSAO, explain what the score is, try to do it on a day when the QM is in and be ready to pay for what's on your 1157 (even if you've never been issued it!) that you can't hand back.

As above you'll sign reminders regarding official secrets and the form requesting voluntary severance.

Just a word of warning kiwiblack, I left and I now regret it.

I was a bit fed up with it after doing a tour, but soon after I left I started missing it.

Ask for a leave of absence mate, just give it a try before you hand your kit in, I'm now re-joining and as well as getting fit again, from what I've been told it's a bit of a pain in the arse admin wise to get back in.

Also, if you do leave, try not to fall out with anyone, even if you know they're in the wrong, it kind of ruins your memories of the unit.
