Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. SCARLET AND GOLD
There are few more iconic images of the United Kingdom than thesight and sound of the Massed Bands of the Guards, adorned in uniforms ofscarlet and gold with, of course, their black bearskin caps. They take theirplace at the very heart of all our great ceremonial occasions such as Troopingthe Colour, State Visits and the Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace andWindsor Castle, and were at the forefront of the celebrations earlier this yearfor Her Majesty’s Diamond Jubilee.
The bands number some of the finest military musicians in theworld and the Scarlet and Gold concerts present a rare opportunity to hear allseven bands playing together on the concert platform.
The concert will feature all five bands of the Foot Guards aswell as the two Household Cavalry Bands, perhaps more familiar from their roleas mounted bands, along with Corps of Drums, Pipes and Drums and FanfareTrumpeters. The programme will cover a wide range of music, old and new, presented as a spectacle of sound and colour.
The Central Hall, Westminster, is located opposite the mainentrance to Westminster Abbey and is just three minutes’ walk from St. James’sPark Underground station. It is a short walk from Westminster, Charing Cross,Embankment and Victoria stations and a number of bus routes pass close to thehall.
For tickets please see : www.theguardsmuseum.com or in person from the Guards Toy Soldier Centre

  4. I went to this last night and it was fabulous. Loved the, Guards Big Band, Schindler's List and the Fare ye well. Messed up on the choice of seat again, bit too close to the front, I thought row E would be 5 rows back not two. Can't believe there was no bar though but suppose as it was because it was in the Methodist Hall? Overall really good night and a fantastic sound. Found out that a memeorial garden is being built where the pond is outside the Guards Chapel to be opened in 2014, soil being brought from all the cemetaries where WW1 guardsmen buried; for more info contact guardsmuseum@aol.com. Scarlet and Gold will be an annual event now which is great as it raises money for the ABF and guards casulty funds.Next event 15th December Guards Brass Band in concert with Bones Apart (girl trombones) at Regent Hall Oxford St London starts 19.30hrs. Tickets £10-15 available from Guards Toy Soldier Centre, Birdcage walk or by post from Guards Museum.
