Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Right, can anyone help me.
The 2IC last night asked me about some Whiskey that the Household Cav ( I think) make, and if they sell it in Makro, where my housemate works, can anyone help me out?

Its called 'Horseguards Dew' and is an old Guards Regiment tradition distilled using the 'Grain Return' method.

Only 30% of oats and barley fed to horses is actually digested. So the thrifty horsey boys sift out the remainder with their hands, boil it up, add yeast and a dash of saddle soap to soften the water, then they distill it into whiskey.

All profit goes to 'The Horsenuts Appeal' (Patron - HRH The Princess Royal) and is used to buy wooly socks for the troopers and sheepskin nosebands for their horses.

    Hope this helps?
