Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Just found this and it's pretty freaky. Dont listen to this unless you have headphones on, as you wont get the desired effect.

  2. brilliant
  3. Hmm, I'm guessing it has something to do with time delay. Sound generated on the left, left ear hears it fractionally before the right, brain decodes time delay as sound generated from the left. Is good stuff tho, look forward to this kind of sound technology being built into music. Stereo eat your heart out.
  4. There's a fair bit about the science of it in the public domain on the web it seems, haven't taken a close look but seems interesting, quite freaky really
  5. Thats pretty damn amazing.

Put your headphones on and close your eyes. Sounds exactly as if the guy with the box is in the room with you.
  6. Pink Floyd were messing about with holophonics in the eighties.

    Anorak on:

The track; get your filthy hands off my desert, from the album The Final Cut, has a perfect example of early
holophonic sound with a misslie flying from right to left (could be left to right, not heard it for a while) and works
