This is a surprisingly easy book to read! It is written by an academic but at the level that the layman - me - can understand and want to get more involved in the story. At 500 pages it is only one third of his story (two other books coming out pre 1939 and post 1949) giving the full story. This is just the war story.

It tells the tale of the Atomic Bomb, how it came into being, the race with Hitler's team (who never really had a chance), and the spying for Russia that went on. How giving the bomb secrets to Russia created the Cold War and deterrents.

It really is worth a read with 500 pages, 250 characters (and listed with short biogs to keep you on track) a timeline of the bomb race and many photographs - this is well worth a punt.

Any bids on this bargain? A very well told story about how the Cold War came into being - so how about some of the Cold War Warriors having a punt?
