    For those of you who aren't aware, this rates as the UK's biggest maritime disaster, and came at a time when we were down on our uppers to say the least. Let's persuade the powers that be that these blokes deserve an officially protected resting place.

  4. In the late 90's I took a blind dunkirk veteran to several museums in the aldershot area, inc that of the RLC. As he felt his way around he came to a painting & asked me to describe it. After a few sentances he stopped me & continued the story from memory, having watched the sinking after his unit had been kicked off the ship to make way for RAF pers.....

    BTW: The picture was painted 25 years after the event by a survivor & depicted 2x stukas attacking a mortally wounded ship.

    Edit: Aren't all warships lost in battle deemed 'Wargraves' providing they were on the side that won?
