In what terms? "Imperialism is in the past. Britain should not be antagonistic in this way and encroach on others sovereignty" sort of thing, presumably? Ignoring, of course, Vlad's regular trailing of his coat down our coasts by both air and sea.

HMS Destroyer?
How current standards of reporting really have slipped far beyond the accurate reporting of the facts.
The dying art of proof reading writ large.
Get a grip Jonah Fisher and the Beeb FFS.

It would seem an innocent passage was being conducted by HMS Defender, she was contacted by 'Russian Warship’ and advised on ref No of the live firing exercise and advised for her safety to take a wider course.

The response seemed to indicate that Defender was aware of the Exercise, was clear, and chose to continue on her course.

It sounds as though any gunfire/bomb dropping may well have been part of that exercise, and has simply been used by the Russians as propaganda for the home audience to show how valently they have protected the Rodina (Motherland) from the aggressive invaders, who were driven off with their tail between their legs at the show of Russian steel.

Blown up hugely, as usual, by various press agencies in various countries.

Yesterday, 22 June was 80th anniversary of German attack on Soviet Union, so emotions could be a tad high on the subject of defenders of Mother Russia? So announcement might go down well with Ivan and Tanya or any other pax on the No 10 Moscow bus?

Dont forget the battle of dogger bank in 1904.

Admittadly the British fleet was forced to withdraw - but far more damage and casualties were inflicted upon the Russian fleet*

Which is somewhat suprising considering the British fleet consisted of unarmed fishing vessels.

*Stand fast points viz Jutland - casualties - never leaving port again

That even made my newspaper in Catalonia. But it seems that the ship was taking a well travelled route that Ivan is disputing. Pushing the limits bit by bit to confirm and extend their rights over certain areas.

No, just reporting with video from the 45.

Very clearly stating its a freedom of navigation thing.

Which will of course greatly annoy those who think the BBC is practically in Putin's pocket.

Let's not forget that the water's through which HMS Defender was transiting are still internationally recognised as Ukrainian and that the Russians have annexed the Crimean Peninsula.

Worse.

"the HMS Destroyer".

Correcting for the true name of the vessel, it is either HMS Defender or the Defender, but not both.

Could almost forgive him for saying Destroyer instead of Defender since she is a destroyer, but the other should be a flogging offence. 10 lashes.

No, suggest 12, 20 or 240. Ten is metric - the others would be Imperial.

judge the Russians and the Chinese on what they do, rather than what they say.
how many weeks had the bbc journa!ist been on board H.M.S Defender? Long enough to grasp the name of the ship the fu ckwit was
was sailing on. Unless bbc diversity policy includes recruiting mental defectives

Russia warned Britain on Thursday that it would bomb British naval vessels in the Black Sea if there were any further provocative actions by the British navy off the coast of Russia-annexed Crimea.
I strongly doubt that bombs would be used.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the British warship, which was travelling from the Ukrainian port of Odessa to the Georgian port of Batumi, was acting in accordance with the law and had been in international waters.
"These are Ukrainian waters and it was entirely right to use them to go from A to B," Johnson said. British Defence Minister Ben Wallace accused Russian pilots of conducting unsafe aircraft manoeuvres 500 feet (152 m) above the warship.
